Associate Digital Media Director Los Angeles, CA

We are currently looking to add an Associate Digital Media Director with a minimum of 6 years agency experience to lead our Digital Planning and Buying Team. This role drives development of media strategy for our clients’ businesses through the cultivation of key relationships with media and technology partners. This position will guide digital Strategy, Planning, Buying, Technology & Analytics and will report directly to the VP, Agency Integration.

The Associate Director Digital Media works directly and autonomously with planner/buyers, account management and clients to provide the strategic direction of client media campaigns. This role will be responsible for leading a team of digital analysts and associate media planners toward development of strategic media plan recommendations. The ideal candidate will be able to present to account teams and clients, analyze and simplify complex data for insights, contribute to the career growth of junior team members and identify and negotiate with media vendors. Additionally, there needs to be a constant curiosity to stay ahead of a changing and complex marketplace, and an understanding of how these changes will impact client objectives.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an expert on digital marketing, buying practices and thought leader across all digital media channels – experience executing $100k+ digital media campaigns across programmatic, social, and/or search channels
  • Work directly with clients and account teams to understand overall objectives and how they relate to a client’s media/web/social/mobile presence
  • Use this client knowledge to build integrated media plans that achieve client goals
  • Analyze the results and make optimization recommendations while the media is live using empirical data to improve results for the next buying cycle
  • Write customized analysis including online media, search engine campaigns, social metrics, mobile metrics, and web analytics that highlight campaign strengths and weaknesses and provide actionable insights on campaign performance
  • Tell the full media story of the campaign lifecycle from inception through optimization to results, and do so in a client-facing, consultative manner
  • Lead support team consisting of Media Planners and Analysts to support client’s media/web/social/mobile objectives
  • Evaluate new advertising opportunities
  • Manage multiple projects and clients at any given time
  • Present complex concepts and metrics in a user-friendly way
  • Collaborate with the media and account teams to provide input into partner selection and rationale
  • Assist in developing buying strategies for maximizing media dollars, and handling media negotiations
  • Key negotiator working with vendors to ensure smart investments are made on behalf of client
  • Works with media and account teams to maintain media budgets and changes to media plan post negotiations
  • Works across agency teams on billing and invoicing to maintain consistent process
  • Works with creative agency/teams to understand creative assets available and any custom placements
  • Understands intricacies of various tracking services to oversee ad ops
  • Mentor, guide and train cross channel campaign managers
  • Integrate plans with traditional strategy
  • Work closely with the Business Development team to participate in new client pitches
  • Communicate and write POVs on a variety of media-related opportunities
  • Keep current on media trends through consumption of trade news as well as attendance to industry conferences and webinars
  • Ability to manage performance-focused media throughout every stage of the funnel
  • Delegate responsibility, but maintain accountability
  • Ensure team is following internal and external processes and cadences for streamlined and timely workflow
  • Provide ongoing actionable insights into campaign performance to relevant stakeholders
  • Define, measure, and evaluate relevant media KPIs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements for Consideration

  • 6-8 years (combined) experience with online media planning and web/media analytics and reporting
  • Media Planning and Buying agency experience required
  • Experience with digital media planning and buying platforms (i.e., Basis, DoubleClick: GCM, GA, AdWords, Facebook/IG, Tik Tok, Twitter, etc.)
  • Experience using comScore and 3rd party ad serving technology (i.e., DoubleClick: DCM)
  • Google Analytics certification or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of social metrics (i.e., Facebook & YouTube insights)
  • Critical thinker who can present complex concepts, media recommendations and data results in a clear and effective manner
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in an ever-changing environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Be a self-starter who can work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, negotiation and troubleshooting skills
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel (including Macros, V-Look Ups and Pivot Tables), PowerPoint)
  • Able to write SQL
  • Deep understanding of HTML and site tagging architecture
  • Curious to learn, seek information and an openness to new ideas and approaches
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • An analytical mind with an aptitude for statistics and math
  • Balance between the science of data and creative ideas
  • Experience using DBM & DCM a plus
